1. Perform quality control related function during minor fabrication and installation works carried out by COMPANY’s contractors at onshore, offshore locations and on Integrated Topside Maintenance vessel to verify compliance to COMPANY’s specifications. This scope normally includes but not limited to the following: –
1.1 Material inspection and verification and traceable check.
1.2 Verification of valid WPS and qualified welder
1.3 Assist in review of welding and NDT procedures generated by COMPANY’s contractors.
1.4 Welding inspection which include preparation, in process and completion of weldments
1.5 Ensure that all NDTs requirements are fully complied with specifications.
1.6 Conducting visual check and carry out conventional NDT such as MPI, DPI and thorough visual assisted by standard inspection tools
1.7 Witness all welding repairs and subsequent NDTs
1.8-Dimensional check of sub and complete assemblies of fabricated items to ensure compliance to approved drawing and specifications
1.9 Review and approve all RT films and reports
1.10 Witness all integrity tests including hydrostatic test
1.11 Witness special welding processes such as post weld heat treatment (PWHT)
1.12 Compile inspection report and punch list of outstanding items
2. Perform ad-hoc inspection to obtain first-hand information on the extent of damage
or sudden failure to production facilities and performing follow up inspection pertaining to repair works.
2.1 Identify requirements for NDT’s such as radiography, ultrasonic test or other tests to verify integrity of weldments
2.2 Review and approved all radiographic test results
2.3 Review and compile fabrication documents
2.4 Issuance of completion report
3. Upon completion of each inspection activities,
4. The final reports shall be prepared in brief and accurate with recommendations and
to be written in English.
5. The report shall include some photographs of defective / deteriorated area / section
/ unit being described and to include line works or structural drawings / sketches.
6. All inspection reports shall be completed within the time frame as specified by COMPANY since it is a documented evidence to show that the inspection cycle has been completed. These reports are important source of information for other departments within COMPANY to use as terms of reference for subsequent inputs for engineering activities, planning and decision making processes.
7. Responsible to check and calibrate all inspection tools and equipment prior to all inspection jobs to be carried out and to reports the defective inspection tools and
equipment to COMPANY. All defective inspection tools shall be rectified / replaced.
8. Responsible to ensure that all inspection tools and equipment are properly maintained, in good working conditions and fit for intended purposes.
9. To participate actively in technical discussions with other departments within COMPANY especially on the inspection findings.
10. Upon completion of each inspection activities, the inspector shall prepare and
compile the reports as per COMPANY’s requirements.
Qualification Requirement
She/he shall possess of the following:
i. Minimum SPM Level or equivalent academic qualification.
ii. Hold the following certificates which shall be kept current and valid at all times:
a. CSWIP 3.2 or PCN Welding Inspector Level 3 certification
b. minimum FIVE (5) years’ related experience in oil and gas inspection,
OR;
Hold the following certificates which shall be kept current and valid at all times:
a. CSWIP 3.2/ PCN Welding Inspector Level 3.1
b. CSWIP/PCN Radiographic Interpreter, Level 3.4 certification or equivalent
c. minimum EIGHT (8) years’ related experience in oil and gas inspection,
B) Attributes
i. Be conversant with non-destructive testing NDT methods, applications and limitations.
ii. Be able to read and interpret on engineering drawings.
iii. Be fully conversant with mechanical catalogues, general arrangement (GA), P&ID and other related drawings required for the installation of the required works.
iv. Have a sound knowledge of International Standards and codes relating to oil and gas industry, structure, pipelines, pressure vessels and process facilities e.g. ASME, AWS, API, ASTM, SSPC, BGAS, and NACE standard specifications and statutory body (DOSH) related to corrosion control and monitoring activities.
v. Be able to review, comment and approve welding procedures (WPS).
vi. Be able to review inspection procedures and Inspection Test Plan (ITP).
vii. Be able to solve problems and perform work under pressure and with a high degree of efficiency.
viii. Possess computer literacy such as Microsoft Office
ix. Have demonstrated competence in technical report writing, technical presentation and the ability to perform work with a high degree of initiative.
x. Good command in both written and spoken languages i.e. Malay and English.
