Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct cable glanding training, assess and approve cable glanding/ termination personnel qualification.
 - Review and approve cable jointer/terminator qualification certificates.
 - Inspection/testing of temporary electrical works, connections to camp facilities as and when required.
 - Inspect installation of supports prior to cable tray installation.
 - Inspection of cable tray/ conduit installation prior to release for cable laying.
 - Inspect cable trench for dimensions and sand bedding prior to cable laying and prior to release each layer of cables.
 - Monitor cable jointing/ termination process to ensure manufacturer’s recommendations are followed.
 - Inspect cable glanding, termination, dressing etc.
 - Witness Insulation Resistance/ continuity test of cables on the drum, after laying, prior to trench back filling and after termination.
 - Witness Hi-pot test of cables.
 - Surveillance during installation of equipment at substation to ensure manufacturer’s recommendations are followed.
 - Monitor preservation activities of switch gears, transformers, bus ducts and other equipment.
 - Inspection of switch gear installation for alignment, location etc.
 - Witness various testing of switchgears including IR, Hi-pot, ductor, operational etc.
 - Witness various electrical tests as per applicable ITP/ vendor docs.
 - Final inspection of transformers, Switchgears, MCCs and other equipment’s.
 - Inspect underground earth cable installation, cad weld joints etc. prior to trench back filling.
 - Witness earth loop resistance/ continuity test.
 - Inspection of lightning protection system of each building.
 - Inspect site routed lighting cable tray installation and release for cable laying.
 - Inspect installation of distribution boards.
 - Monitor preservation activities of motors throughout project period.
 - Witness IR test and/ or polarization index test etc. as applicable.
 - Inspect installation of local control stations.
 - Witness functional test from local control station to Substation, if applicable.
 - Witness various inspection/testing related to CP system prior to backfilling and after back filling.
 - Inspect installation of heat tracing circuits and associated components.
 - Witness inspection/testing related to overhead power distribution/transmission lines.
 - Inspect each instrument against data sheet prior to release to site for installation.
 - Witness calibration of each instrument as required by ITP/ specifications.
 - Monitor preservation requirements of instruments and control panels.
 - Inspect installation/ hook up and pressure test of impulse tubing.
 - Surveillance during installation of equipment at control room to ensure manufacturer’s recommendations are followed.
 - Inspect installation of various cables including system cables.
 - Inspect installation of various F&G instruments, control panels.
 - Witness testing of the F&G circuits and system as applicable.
 - Witness testing of control panels.
 - Verify all inspections related each loop components have been carried out as per applicable ITP’s and documented.
 - Witness loop continuity checking.
 - Perform initial detailed inspection of certified electrical equipment based on latest IEC 60079-17 table 1,2,3 and IEC 60079-14, or perform visual or close inspection as applicable.
 - Correct interpretation of equipment labels, IP Rating etc.
 - Verify IP Rating is maintained.
 - Report back to discipline leader, if any refining required in ITR forecast based on actual site condition.
 - Immediately report any cost effecting inspection results to discipline leader and also highlight to engineering.
 - Perform Daily Surveillance at site and report findings to SQM. Participate in Quality Walkthroughs.
 - Perform pre-acceptance survey of works and documentation prior to testing.
 - Carry out any other duties as and when required by the discipline supervisor.
 - Verify IP Rating is maintained.
 
Minimum Job Requirement
- Degree in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent. (Diploma in Electrical/ Electronics Engineering may be an optional qualification, if the person is with proven track record in instrumentation)
 
- Minimum 15 – 20 years of experience in Electrical, Instrumentation & Telecom QC inspections.
 - Should have 5 – 7 years of supervisory level experience in oil & gas platform or wind energy (HVDC/ HVAC) Platform EIT inspection activities.
 - Should have previously worked with major EPC contractors or their subcontractors.
 - For Hazardous Area Electrical Inspections: Should be an experienced person whose training has included instructions on various types of protection and installation practices, IEC60079-17 and IEC 60079-14.
 - Shall possess IECEx CoPC & CompEx or ATEX certification.
