General Requirements

• Holder of a Certificate of Competency Class 1 or Class 2 issued by a competent authority.
• Possesses all valid STCW-required proficiency certificates.
• Minimum 24 months of experience as Watchkeeping Officer (WKO).
• Proficient in both oral and written English communication.
• Medically fit for offshore duties.

Job Description

• Serve as Head of the Deck Department, supervising, guiding, and motivating all subordinate deck personnel.
• Immediately inform the Master of any defects or issues that could compromise vessel safety or pose a risk to the marine environment.
• Allocate duties to deck officers and crew in accordance with the vessel’s Safety Management System (SMS) and departmental responsibilities.
• Investigate non-conformities or conformances, and implement corrective and preventive actions as agreed with the Master.
• Perform the duties of Ship Security Officer (SSO) when delegated by the Master, ensuring compliance with the vessel’s security plan.
• Oversee and ensure proper execution of all deck maintenance activities in line with the vessel’s maintenance program.
• Prepare, update, and monitor deck work lists, ensuring timely follow-up and completion of assigned tasks
