Job Description

Purpose of Job
The process control technologist is a member of BLNG Process Control team, responsible for design, development & implementation of Base Layer Process Control, Advanced Process Control (APC) and Procedural Automation solutions to various production units in BLNG. This involves developing new applications as well as maintaining the performance of existing applications to improve the safety, reliability, and integrity of BLNG assets with automation solutions and delivering business value. This role requires extensive collaboration with other internal stakeholders including Engineering, Operations and other Technologists and external stakeholders like Shell Global and OEMs.

Principal Accountabilities
You will be accountable for:
1. Support and advice in process control for BLNG to meet its contractual sales obligations; specific focus areas comprise process control troubleshooting and unit reliability.
2. Developing and maintaining base layer process control and safeguarding applications and ensuring it’s high up time.
3. Developing and maintaining Procedural Automation and Advanced Process Control Applications.
4. Identifying opportunities for control strategy improvements. Design, modify and tune base layer controls and APC applications to improve asset margin.
5. Driving Process Control MoCs from concept to go-live, with end-to-end responsibilities.
6. Participate in design and/or safety review and provide process control and safeguarding related inputs to capital projects.
7. Participate in major activities like FAT/SAT for process control systems, unit startup and turn around support.
8. Coach and develop junior process control engineers.

Qualifications
Required
Degree in Chemical engineer or similar background either by education or by experience

Competence Required
• 10+ years of process control engineering experience in oil/gas industry
• Good collaboration and team working skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders to resolve complex problems as a team
• Ability to independently troubleshoot Process Control problems and provide operational guidance and engineering solutions
• Ability to identify performance gaps in existing base layer control strategies, design & implement control solutions to fix the gaps
• Experience in revamping legacy APC applications to deliver tangible business value
• Experience working with Foxboro DCS system is preferred
• Experience in working with compressor control schemes is a plus
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
• Be able to prioritize and manage expectations in the case of competing requests from stakeholders
