Responsibilities

  • Understand and follow Weatherford’s Enterprise Excellence Process and Quality Policy, ensuring full compliance with the Quality Systems Manual, Operating and Technical Procedures, and Workplace Instructions.
  • Adhere to all Weatherford safety rules, company policies, and applicable licensee requirements.
  • Perform complex CNC machine operations with a high level of accuracy and independence.
  • Maintain acceptable levels of reject rates, scrap rates, and production output.
  • Identify operational issues and independently resolve most problems.
  • Mount, align, and secure tooling, attachments, and workpieces on CNC machines.
  • Install cutting tools and ensure proper setup for machining.
  • Load control media (tape, card, disk) or input commands to retrieve pre-programmed instructions from the database.
  • Set machine controls accurately, including tool positioning, cutting depth, speed, feed, and coolant flow.
  • Start machines and closely monitor displays and operations to quickly detect malfunctions.
  • Stop machines as needed to change cutting tools, adjust setups, or perform part measurements to verify conformance to blueprint specifications—making program adjustments when required.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines, equipment, and facilities to keep them in optimal condition.
  • Provide and maintain all required personal measuring tools and storage.
  • Follow all oral and written instructions accurately.
  • Hold machining tolerances within .0005 or as specified on blueprints.
  • Accurately record all labor hours using the timekeeping system.
  • Handle finished components with care to avoid damage and maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment.
  • Maintain awareness of production scheduling and shop floor control processes used by Weatherford.
  • Complete all work assignments to the highest quality standard.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor within the physical scope of the role.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 years of CNC machining experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to independently set up and operate CNC lathes or mills, and troubleshoot program errors.
  • Ability to create or modify programs directly at the machine when required.
  • Mazak machine experience is strongly preferred.
